| Project: Strategy formation, brand and product line architecture, new brand and product development.
Situation: A $200 million Canadian snack cake company with stagnant sales and a belief that consumers were moving away from its core product category. The company was spending a considerable amount of time, money, and resources making changes to its products without significantly impacting the value of its brand and product portfolio, and ultimately, its return on investment. Actions: I was hired to provide the company with an innovation blueprint for restructuring its product development process, re-thinking its view of the market and providing direction for new brands and products. I enabled the company to uncover untapped market potential hidden in their core market and helped the company assess the capabilities of its existing product and process technologies finding unknown design latitude. This enabled the company to realign its existing brand and product portfolio in order to make better product development decisions. Results: These action resulted in the company increasing the overall value of its brand and product portfolio by simultaneously reducing its overall costs by more that ten percent and increasing sales by 20% with "Strategically Fit" new products. In addition, the company reduced its need for capital by 30% across its development projects and decreased development time for new, "high impact" products by 30%. |
