Situation: Under market pressure to reduce costs and maintain quality, the client was looking for a way to "re-develop" or reduce cost for some of its key products and ingredients.

Actions: I was hired to develop, demonstrate, and train suppliers in a custom improvement process based on the principles of Quality Function Deployment and Robust Development Methods. I applied the process to a flagship product in a demonstration project.

Results: I reduced supplier-to-supplier variation in delivering the flagship product's critical attributes, while saving $1.3 million annually in formulation costs. Ensured the wise use of supplier resources in category management by supplying a sound and shared step-by-step improvement process.
